Hi guys, I tried to get exchange 2003 SP 1 with rcp over http to work. I followed the instructions from MS and the connection is working besides that outlook does not get a connection to the global catalog server. To be more precise if outlook is located in the local intranet the connection to the global catalog server falls back to tcp/ip. There are 2 strange things. First it, with the rpc/proxy connection, outlook uses the Backend Exchange Server as global catalog server instead of the offical Global Catalog server on a domain controller. This surprises me that it works anyway. In several newsgroups the they state to set the registry key for the global catalog server. ----------- "The front-end Exchange Server that is acting as an RPC over HTTP proxy server needs to know the names of the back-end Exchange Servers and global catalog servers. You will need to navigate to the Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy and change the value of the Valid Ports entry. The change to the ValidPorts value is entered using the following format: ExchangeServerFQDN:593;ExchangeServerFQDN:1024-65535;GlobalCatalogServerFQDN:593;GlobalCatalogServerFQDN:1024-65535
----------- The problem is that after a reboot the old values without the Global catalog server entries are set again - I assume they are automatically set buy exchange 2003 SP1. I already set the registry key on the global catalog server "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Services\NTDS\Parameters ncacn_http:6004" Any ideas how to get this work?
