Adding the NetBIOS name of Exchange server to the Hosts file should have taken care of all that (if the Hosts file was done correctly). The problem must be with something else.

Try doing an ipconfig /register dns if you still have issues. Chris This communication is intended only for use by the addressee. It may contain confidential or privileged information. Mail settings on users computer are set to "exch3", which vpn users cannot ping. They can ping "exch3.prang.com", or the actual ip address but cannot ping "exch3". When I try to go into the mail settings in control panel on users machine and change the exchange server to either "exch3.prang.com" or the actual ip address, it automatically changes it back to "exch3". So they cannot contact the server. I have added "exch3" to the hosts file on their computer just to be sure. Still won't work. I obviously have something set up incorrectly but am at a total loss, any ideas? Thank you.
