Dave - sorry about not replying earlier, but a combination of work and
Xmas got in the way! :)

Hmmm, this does seem a bit strange. I have a question: in the Events
view in MOM, are you also seeing an event entry telling you the OWA
login has been successful, as well as this error stating that it hasn't
been successful?

I am able to go to https://servername/exchange/servernamemom and get to
the mailbox with the credentials of my MOM Mailbox Access Account.

Do you think it could be related to the startup account for the MOM
service on the Management server? I have it starting with the Network
Service. Are you using a domain account for your service account? My
thought is that I don't know where the synthetic logon script is running
from but if it is running from the management server the script probably
can not read the registry of the front-end server.

Well, firstly to preserve your sanity, this does work as it is working
fine here (OWA, OMA and EAS). :)

The first one I got working was just OWA, so perhaps concentrate on that
one first. I created the custom URL entry and made sure that the
Exchange virtual directory on the FE server has SSL enabled. MOM then
uses the URL you specify, plus it appends the mailbox name found in the
BEAccount registry value (in the same location as the custom URLs). So,
can you successfully type something like
https://servername/exchange/servernameMOM
(where servernameMOM is the BEAccount entry) into the browser, enter
your MOM Mailbox Access account credentials, and connect to OWA? That
would be a good place to start.
Also, does your custom URL definitely have https at the start? Easy to
forget that one...

In every case the problem appears to be that the synthetic logon process
does not know what URL to use to attempt logon. They all either say
"URL:
undefined" or "Cannot measure EAS availability for the following URL: ".
I have included one the exact events below. The only reference to these
messages I can find is saying that the synthetic logon will not work
unless SSL is enforced which I am enforcing SSL.

I have also created the custom URL string values in the registry and
still I get the same problem of not having a URL in the error messages.
Any ideas?

--------MOM Event-------------
Description:
Error during synthetic Outlook Web Access logon.

To determine the current state of this problem, look at the events
associated with this alert and find the most recent event.

The initial event reported that:

OWA Logon failed.
URL: undefined
Cannot measure OWA availability. Unexpected error.
No Exchange virtual servers and virtual directory (SSL enabled) can be
found on this server to form a valid url. Try providing the url in the
custom urls registry key (see Configuration guide for detail)

This event was generated by the script: "Exchange 2003 - OWA logon
verification"
-------End MOM Event-------------

What errors do you actually get?
