Well, IANAL, but I think the way Microsoft interprets it is that you are
entitled to use whatever version of Outlook you want, provided: 1) You have
sufficient CALs 2) You have sufficent licenses for whatever version of
Outlook you are running.

Think about it this way -- if you didnt' have to buy a new copy of Outlook
each time, Microsoft wouldn't be worth billions because they'd make one
version of Office, and then when they came up with a new version, everyone
would have a free upgrade, and I don't think M$ intends to give away free
upgrades. Unless you buy into their special "guaranteed upgrade" path.
Literally buy-in.

Doesn't the Exchange CAL entitle you to the latest version of Outlook,
regardless of which version of Office you're licensed for?

Hehe... Well, it's what we have licenses for...so that's what we use. We
also have a few licenses for Office 2000, and thus a few users (myself
included) using that version of Office. I wouldn't object to upgrading
them all to Office 2003, but getting that approved is about as likely as
dinosaurs suddenly appearing alive and well in New York! :-)

I'm sorry, my brain just stuck on the Outlook 97 part. Man, I thought
WE had some old stuff around here! Outlook 97, ugh.
