I seem to remember of such a bug with Exchange 5.x (don't remember if it was 5.0 or 5.5), were bcc recipients were exposed, but that was several years ago and was fixed by a hotfix/SP.
Is the Exchange 5.5 of your correspondent updated with latest SP?
