Exchange won't give access rights to the user using what protocol? There
is no new user. So there's no access change. However, the correct format
for a username when accessing via POP3 or IMAP is
domain\username\mailbox_alias or domain/username/mailbox_alias depending
on the access method.

Conversation: Changing User Name
Subject: Changing User Name

This has to be the most common issue in networking but damned if I can
figure out how to do it successfully.

I have a user who got married and changed her last name.

OK. I went into Active Directory, Users and computers and changed her
last name, renamed the account, everything I could freaking think of. I
didn't want to delete her account and create a new one because she'd
lose her profile and all that stuff.

Everything seems to be working except Exchange. For some reason, it
won't give mailbox rights to the new user.

Strange as it sounds, I can log in from school under her account and can
access her email under her "new" accountname with no problem. I can send
email to that account.

However, she is unable to access the account from home. She CAN access
it through Mail2Web which is POP3 access. I'm not sure if she's
accessing through POP3 or IMAP, but I BELIEVE it's IMAP.

When I go into ADU&C (on the Exchange Server) and look at "Mailbox
Rights" (under Exchange/Advanced) I see her old account listed. There
seems to be NO WAY I can make the account accept the new username. It is
avaiilable to select under the search engine, but when I select the NEW
accountname, it puts in her OLD accountname.

I went to the Exchange/General tab and changed the Alias to her new
username.

I don't want to delete her email account and recreate it because I'll
lose all her email. I would PREFER not to have to KLUDGE around it by
exporting to a PST file and then reimporting.

What have I missed????
