Push to unknown phones = SMS

You should be able to negotiate a better deal than 10p/txt if you can
indicate volume

If you can narrow the type of phones down a bit , then you may have more
options

I would see the problem being the push feature you want , rather than
email access. The only push email is the blackberry (that I know of)
until end of this year when phone makers will support the push
technology of exchange 2003 SP2.

I suspect you want to have zero support calls for this, so I would
suspect SMS is the only way to go.

Cheers
Dean

Helen,
You will probably get messages from the US members of this list who will
fail to notice that you are in the UK. They will tell you that you can
simply forward your email to <phone number>@ mobilephoneco.net and it
doesn't cost a cent. Unfortunately that only applies to the US,
everywhere else has to pay.

As such, automatic email to any mobile phone in the UK and the word
"cheap" cannot be used in the same sentence.
You basically only have one option and that is to use an email to SMS
gateway and that will cost you 10p for every email message. It does let
you support any phone, but is very expensive to run.

If you have fairly modern mobile phones you could see if they have an
email client built in. Many of the more modern phones have this.

You also have OMA which works with most mobiles released in the UK in
the last couple of years.
Then you have smart phones - Blackberry or Windows Mobile Devices.
Blackberry can give you push technology now, Windows Mobile 5.0 will
eventually (any day between now and the end of the century).

Simon.

Morning to you all

Does anyone use a service/server for sending emails to Mobile Phones?

If so which one do you use and would you recommend it?

We would prefer to run one that we control and is relatively cheap to
run

We run Exchange 2003 SP1

Any replies gratefully received
