Or just go to File/Open/Other users folder and type in the user's name
and select Inbox. The OWA way works just fine as well.

You are not calling him a liar. You are trying to find out if there is a
communication issue with his outlook and exchange making the messages
appear to be gone, or if there is a server side delivery problem.

Per the other email. Grant yourself access to the box in Exchange, type
the url to your owa and add /yourbossesexhangealias to the end and use
your username and password after you have granted the permissions above.
