1) BEFORE you do ANY moves make sure the AD is stable and without errors. If the AD is not stable then you will not have a good experience.
2) It is not a good idea to have anyone in their mailbox while you are moving it. Bad things can happen. 3) ADC should be running during the move. In fact you should make sure it is synching between the two environments before you do any moves. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dandy, Jim Sent: Friday, December 15, 2006 2:41 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Moving mailboxes from 5.5 to 2003 I'm going to be upgrading from Exchange 5.5 to 2003. I have two questions. 1) I had heard that you shouldn't allow people to use the 5.5 server while moving mailboxes to the E2K3 server because the move taxes the server and having people on it generates an unnecessary load. After thinking about it, I'm wondering what happens if someone is using their mailbox while you are trying to move it. It seems like it would be kind of hard to move it while it is being modified. Is this a problem? If so, is there a way I can lock people out while I do the move? 2) Along the same line, should the ADC be running during the move? It seems like the move might confuse the ADC because it could try to synchronize things that are changing. Thanks for your help.
