Yep, cheers for that and to Simon Butler, this is how I figured it
should work though for some reason its not working, doh!  I am sure that
I am creating the contacts correctly, setting the external email address
as the primary and the internal email address as the secondary email
address.

When I create the contact and it asks me for the email address I put in
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" which is my own personal email address, then
I go and edit the contact after unticking the automatically update the
recipients and adding a secondary email address of
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" which is internal to our exchange 2003
infrastructure.

When I send an external email it seems to get delivered with no error's
but the email is not getting bounced back out like it should do.



Hmmm, never had this problem before!

That's how it works in 2003 as well. I've got almost 1000 mail enabled
contacts at one client, and they're all setup that way.

Hmm, completely lost me there, I know what an open relay is though I'm
not sure what its got to do with what I'm trying to do?  Are you
suggesting that the reason it worked at my old place was because they
had open relay and that would allow it to work?

To explain further what I'm trying to achieve.

I have an exchange 2003 server that is responsible for the mail domain
remploy.co.uk, for some [EMAIL PROTECTED] I want to redirect emails to
another server.  In my previous company we setup a contact that would
have its primary email address as [EMAIL PROTECTED] and then the
secondary email address would be [EMAIL PROTECTED]  If someone was to
send an email in destined for [EMAIL PROTECTED], it would redirect the
email to the primary email address which was [EMAIL PROTECTED],
this doesn't appear to be working how I remember it though.

I remember at my old place we used Exchange 2000 and we setup contacts
that would have the primary SMTP address setup as an external email
address and then a secondary as an email address that was inside our
organization.

When you sent emails to the contact it would route the email to the
external primary SMTP address.  For example if I have a contact called
"Neil Test" and its primary email address is "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
and then a secondary email address as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" if it
received emails from the outside world destined for
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" it would reroute them to
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]".

I've tried setting it up this way in our Exchange 2003 organisation but
it doesn't appear to be working, I am sure we have done it before in my
previous company and it worked fine, we don't want to have to setup mail
enabled users for every email user we want to route elsewhere.
