Yep, that's the stategy we originally opted for, wont go into details as to why we now have to use the server that's in another site to move all the people too....it was a nightmare at the time and not something I was voting for! lol -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ed Crowley [MVP] Sent: 26 January 2007 19:52 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Tool for refreshing shared calendars/mailboxes The proper migration strategy to avoid this kind of thing would be to have propped up temporary Exchange 2003 servers in the Exchange 5.5 sites, move the mailboxes to them, go to native mode, then consolidate sites and remove the propped-up servers. The original idea was to maintain the sites by having one new exchange 2k3 server in each of the sites, but one thing lead to another and 5.5 users are having to go across to 2k3. It's not something I've done before and I guess it's a reason why I'm seeing a lot of the name resolution/shared mailbox issues I'm seeing now? Is it a known problem that migrating uses from one site to another 5.5->2k3 will cause behaviour like this? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ed Crowley [MVP] Sent: 26 January 2007 18:56 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Tool for refreshing shared calendars/mailboxes Organization group? Do you mean organization or administrative group (formerly site)? I think the answer to your problem is that you should have kept the existing Exchange 5.5 site model until you had migrated everyone to Exchange 2003, then gone to native mode, and then you could have moved the mailboxes between administrative groups without seeing this kind of problem. But, I guess, it's too late for this now. Though what I am thinking is this something to do with the fact that the users are being migrated from Exchange 5.5 server in Organisation group A to Exchange 2003 in Organisation group B? They have two sizes HOIT and BANB, the old exchange 5.5 server sits in the BANB site and the destination 2003 server sits in the HOIT site. Cheers. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ed Crowley [MVP] Sent: 26 January 2007 18:23 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Tool for refreshing shared calendars/mailboxes How are you moving people? If you're using the Move Mailbox Wizard to do an intraorganizational move, then you shouldn't have to do anything. If you're using a tool to do an interorganizational move, then you might ask your tool vendor if they have anything to refresh the profile. The problem we are getting is when moving people in batch's, they have somebody elses calendar/mailbox open and when that somebody's mailbox is migrated to a new server they cant open the mailbox/calendar anymore. The fix for this is to delete the shared calendar/close outlook and readd it, same principle with other peoples inboxes too, though this is proving hard to explain to users and it would be nice if there was a one click fix that kind of readded shared calendars/mailboxes to your outlook profile automatically. Does such a tool exist? Cheers Remploy - 60 years of finding jobs for disabled people http://www.remploy.co.uk http://www.realjobs4realpeople.co.uk Remploy LTD.
