Thanks for the quick reply Geni,
I'm a fan of GFI and I already use GFI ME, but GFI Mail Security doesn't
seem to be exactly what I'm looking for (unless I missed something in
the literature/manual - correct me if I'm wrong). GFI MS seems more of
a quarantine/archival system, independent and not integrated with
Outlook.

What I need is a tool that strips attachment from messages and replaces
them with a clickable link in the message, and then delivers the message
with the link to the recipient, who needs to receive it in Outlook. Our
company is implementing MS CRM and I'm trying to make Outlook emails
leaner, before they are stored in the CRM database. Users receive
emails in Outlook and drag&drop to the CRM, and embedded file links
would retain easy access to the original attachemnt.

MapiLab Attachment Processor does what I'm looking for, but it's
client-based http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/attachments_processor/ .
They have a similar product server-based, Rules for Exchange
http://www.mapilab.com/exchange/rules/ , but before I enquired with them
I wished some feedback from this list on the MapiLab sw and/or
alternatives.

Thanks,
Alberto

GFI Mail Security will do that. That's what we originally started using
it for, although we use its antivirus and antispam features as well.
You can either give users access to the location of the blocked
attachments or you can manually review and approve or delete them.

Subject: Stripping file attachments at Exchange server

I'm looking for a server-based tool to strip attachments from incoming
emails and move to a date-named file folder, that leaves in the message
just a URL link to the stripped file.

Something like MapiLab Attachment Processor or Sperry Software
Attachment Save, but server-based (they are Outlook-based).

Mapi Labs claims to have a server-based tool (MapiLab Rules for
Exchange), but before I enquire with them I wish to know if anyone has
any recommendation or experience with other products and/or with
MapiLabs and SperrySoftware.

Exchange 2k3 SP2 (built into SBS 2003 Premium Edition SP1)

Thanks,
Alberto
