This is a good point.

However in my company (small shop - 12 people) file storage is cheap, while
Exchange and SQL storage is not (talking about backup/recovery procedures). I
would't care that much to have dozens of GB's of junk stripped files somewhere
on a NAS, if that can save even a few GB in Exchange and CRM/SQL stores.

However yours is a good point, to take into account. Thanks.

Alberto

Subject: RE: Stripping file attachments at Exchange server

My biggest fear would be the sheer amount of attachments that would be stored
somewhere and never knowing if I need to keep it or not. We get quite a few
attachments in there that are nothing more than video clips, etc. or multiple
announcements for new products going to different magazines. I could see where,
at some point, you don't know what you can delete, because it is no longer
needed and what needs to be kept because it is a good attachment but the email
is archived.
