We already do that but also retain information in a bespoke CRM database also. Obviously with two copies we have to re-key information into both sources and this causes more work and integrity issues.
We are trying to get all users to input contact data into the CRM solution where we have a single record for all contacts instead of the many variations we end up with in public folders. Just wondering how others achieve this. -Mark -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ken Cornetet Sent: 10 October 2007 15:48 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Contacts/distribution list AD integration Why not create a public folder for each business unit's contacts and store the contact info there? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mark Condron Sent: Wednesday, October 10, 2007 6:10 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Contacts/distribution list AD integration All, Windows Server 2000 SP4, Exchange 2003 SP2, Outlook XP/2003. I am getting a developer to extract contacts and distribution lists from an SQL database to AD. All the contacts and distribution lists are flagged in the database as belonging to certain business units within our organisation. Contact and DL association with each of the business units is not mutually exclusive. I know it's possible to create an OU for each of our business units and then include all the DL's and contacts associated with that unit in that OU? Is it possible to display the contents of the OU as a public folder contacts list or include it in an address book displayed in the "show names from:" within Outlook? Any other approached would be gratefully received. I need to let the developer know how to sort, what format, and where to drop the extract from the database in AD.
