Hi,

Long time lurker (from Exchange 4 days) here needing some expert advice

Current environment =- Exchange 2003. 3 Mailbox Servers 2 Front end
servers. 10,000+ (and growing) mailboxes in 6 SG's 14 Dtatabases (each
around 100GB) negligible Public Folder usage. Single Site. (no quotas,
no formal archiving procedures) Servers are a mixed bunch of of Dell
1750 and 2850

Clients in 140+ remote locations.

75% clients OWA only (light users). 5% Outlook Anywhere HTTP only
(Medium Users). 20% LAN connected OWA (Normal Users).
Proposed E2K7 environment (derived at using E2K7 sizing tool) - 2 Client
Access/Hub Transport Servers, 1 x clustered mailbox server using CCR (8
DB's in 8 Storage Groups )
Estimated initial storage requirement 4836 GB.
UM and Edge next year when regional offices open Outlook Anywhere access
expected to increase dramatically and OWA to decrease.

I have 2 x HP DL360 G5's with 2 x Quad core 2.33 GHz that I can use to
form cluster.
My delimas -
1. even if I boost RAM to 32 GB will the DL360's have enough grunt.
2. My research indicates that MS lean towards DAS - should I be
recommending DAS or SAN, and some compelling reasons why I should choose
one over the other
3. constructive criticism please.
4. Budget is very restricted

thanks in anticipation.

Brian
