There are schema changes in CU2. Applying CU2 schema changes is sufficient, but don't do any other 2013 steps until after you have updated your 2010 servers.

That would include the schema updates for Exchange 2010 SP3. This allows Exchange 2013 to interface and communicate with Exchange 2010. This also will allow the installation of Exchange 2013 into a domain with an already existing Exchange 2010 Organization. Yes, I understand I need 2010 SP3. My question relates to the schema upgrade required: can I upgrade to Exchange 2013 CU2 level schema and THEN install 2010 SP3, or do I need to upgrade to 2010 SP3 schema AND 2013 CU2 schema as 2 steps? Or, are you saying that I won’t be able to extend the schema to 2013 CU2 unless all Exchange 2010 servers are at SP3? I’m just trying to avoid two schema updates is all. This includes extending the schema. When Exchange 2013 CU2 runs the pre-req checks, it will see Exchange 2010 SP2 and lower machines and then error / exit. First we need to go to 2010 SP3. Can we avoid doing two schema updates by applying ONLY the 2013 CU2 changes, or MUST we use 2010 SP3 first, and then 2013 CU2? Disclaimer: I haven’t Googled for this information at all. Lazy. Thanks Richard
