Siegfried, this has been great help. I will get our off hours monitoring
team to re-register cdo and reboot the server.
We are in mixed mode on the client side right now, about half of the 4500
users are running 2000 and half 98. We have not updated the client that
resides on the server. What ever version was available in Dec 98 is what is
still there. AS far as SR/SP versions, clients who are running 98 generally
have version 8.5.6614.0 unless they need it reinstalled and then they get 98
with the service pack. Clients running 2000 are generally running
9.0.0.3821 and that, I am told, is SR1.

Doesn't matter. The important part is to have any Exchange 5.5 SP
installed if you installed Outlook after Exchange to get a lot of stuff
straightened out.

That's a backup after you applied Q289606.
What you could do now is stop all Exchange services (and make sure to
include all related - like AntiVirus, System Management etc) and
re-register CDO.DLL with "regsvr32.exe CDL.DLL" (from within
c:\winnt\system32) and reboot afterwards.
Also, what version of Outlook do you run on the client? 2000? If so,
what SR/SP? Maybe the Security Update installed? It comes with a newer
version of CDO 1.21 than vanilla OL2k and might have an issue.
