We run Exchange 5.5 in a Netware 5 environment and there haven't really been any issues other than password changing. We did look at Groupwise a few years back, but at that point the client interface for GW provided too much of a learning curve for our users who were already using the MS Client for MS-Mail. Anyhow, the upshot was we got Exchange, and implemented it side by side to Netware. I guess the biggest issue would be the extra investment for hardware for both platforms.
We are looking at migrating to Exchange 2000, and once we have an AD structure in place, Exchange 2k rolled out, then we will more than likely be moving completely from Netware to Microsoft, and this is probably more a business reason than technical, as I still believe that Novell's file/print and Directory Services are far superior to Microsoft's. But as our information changes form, we have to look at products outside the Netware arena. -----Original Message----- From: Ron Jameson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, 2 October 2001 12:55 p.m. To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Exchange on a Netware network I have a client running Netware 5.1 with 250 win2k client pc's and 125 apple macs. We are recommending management software and email. I personally advise against Novell at this moment and wish to push the exchange 2000 in the NetWare network in addition to Intel LANDesk instead of Novell's manage wise. Has anyone had good success marrying exchange 2000 into a NetWare environment or even experience with Intel's LANDesk? Will exchange work at a member on it's own 2000 platform or must there also be the 2000 domain controller? It appears Tivoli or open view did not support the Apple Mac's but LANDesk did which is the reason for that choice. Unfortunately, if the client wishes to remain a Novell shop, they will probably opt for the second choice which is GroupWise and manage wise running both on NetWare.
