FAX is useful for communicating to folks who have a phone link, but not one reliable enough for internet connection. Or, they have a phone but no computer. Or, you need to exchange documents which must be signed - the legal community accepts faxes of signed documents. Electronic signatures are not generally acceptable, yet.
