That wouldn't detect Exchange 5.5 servers without an Internet Mail
Connector.  It would also detect every Windows 2000 domain controller, plus
myriad other false positives.

Use Nmap www.insecure.org or another type of port scanner to connect to port
25 of a series of ip addresses through the network.
