I ran into a similar situation once, where I had to recreate an Exchange server but was told the wrong site and org names. I set up the server using the names I thought were correct, and, needless to say, it failed when the original edb files were placed on the server. However, I was able to figure out the correct names from the errors that appeared in event viewer, setup the server again, and get it to work.
