Let's get this straight once and for all... Diskeeper does a file-level defrag of the hard-drive. It does not touch what is inside the files, just gathers the fragments together.
Exchange databases do get fragmented, but _internally_ to their structure. Diskeeper will not touch that fragmentation. The Exchange database files are open; Diskeeper will try very hard to move them anyway, chewing up clock cycles and dragging down performance. And since your EDB files are on their own spindle with nothing else there (that IS how you're configured, right?) the file itself will always be contiguous; nothing to defrag. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean-Francois Bourdeau" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Exchange Discussions" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, April 22, 2002 5:14 PM Subject: Diskeeper and Exchange the final word ? > Hi > > Can Diskeeper defrag an exchange server or not ? > > Must we exlude or not the exchange database Folder ? > > I heard opposites answers to that...
