Thanks Stephen, This is the first constructive help I've had on this, even with a case logged with PSS. I've found a workaround which was to remove the NT4 SRP (Q299444) so your suggestion might indicate there is a problem between the NT4 and W2K SRPs.
Obviously W2K is now 128 bit encryption only but I'm not sure about the status of the NT4 high encryption in the UK. I assume that as the 128 bit version of SP6a is available on the TechNet CD set its generally available but I don't know if there are any technical issues with upgrading.
