If you're doing an Exchange-aware restore, i.e., restoring the Information Store as opposed to files, then the drive letter arrangement need NOT match the server from which the backup was taken.

I was under the impression that the drive/directory structure had to match the production machine the backup was taken from. I used the perf optimzer to see where everything was located on the production machine and then used the perf optimizer to mirror it on the recovery server but the tape will still not restore. Can anyone tell me if there is another way to confirm the locations? It restores the Directory info just fine then sits on zero bytes for the information store for at least 4 hours until I finally killed it.
