Because we don't want people dialing up more than once. We have about 800 users and only 40 lines. If I use Outlook it will dial ever X minutes. Also people travel with these laptops and use outlook while they are not connected to a phone line. I don't want Outlook trying to perform a s&r all day long while people are trying to work. We are also using custom forms in Outlook so its pretty much open all day while they are working and disconnected.
