  I based that figure on a comparison of the sizes of the text/plain parts
vs the text/html parts of several messages in my saved mail collection.  
The HTML parts were consistently about ten times bigger.  Granted, I only
checked a handful of messages, so this is hardly a scientific survey, but
that's what I saw.  I was rather surprised myself.
