What version of Exchange are we talking about again?

I did another offline defrag and put a mailbox limit of 500 MB, but my
director has already said he wants more, is there a way to make him an
exception?

Actually, if you've moved them off the db in question... just reset
(delete) the db and then remount.. exchange will say something about it,
choose yes and then it will mount.

But, as already stated, you shouldn't need to do an offline defrag... if
your users have really deleted that much e-mail, then eventid 1221 will
say so... at that point, the db won't grow... it'll use that white
space... if you have a space issue that requires that you to shrink the
size of the db to get space, then you are not addressing the actual
problem... you need more hard drive space... shrinking it via offline
defrag will just temporarily alleviate your problem... the users habits
will not have changed and so they will quickly grow the db again
(assuming you've ran the offline defrag).

IMHO, you should be looking at getting more drive space.

Create a second information store on the same exchange server. Move the
mailboxes to that store. Un-mount the store you want to defrag. Defrag
it. Leave the mailboxes on the newly created store until the next time
you want to defrag.

It's a lot of work, but there is little downtime. There will be a few
minutes where users might not be able to get to their individual mailbox
during the move, but it is better than dealing with the 4-8 hours of
down time.

Yesterday I had to run eseutil over a network (not advised but...) Is
there a way to syncronise the priv1.edb with the current state of
affairs? I have had users clean out a total of about 6GB but my
priv1.edb remains the same size as before (13.3 EDB AND 1.5 STR)?
