Replication takes time. You didn't say what you had set for the replication schedule. You did schedule time (like Always) for replication, no?
The free space message applies to the amount of free space within the database file, not space on the drive. It would figure that a brand-new store wouldn't have any free space in it since nothing has been deleted from it. This has absolutely nothing to do with the replication not occurring.
