I wasn't thinking of an individual user waiting for his mail, but the O/A flow. Thought it might create a bottleneck.
We have Antigen (cuz I listened to the gurus on this DL). We are doing full scans using three AV engines, and blocking most of the types in the Basic list. I'll get my admin to add the rest of the types from the Full list. We have the HP. Keep in mind, this is email, not folder access. Your users are not going to notice if it takes 1 second or 5 to get an email. They wont see it till it hits the inbox and it will be scanned by then. I don't know what AV software you are using, but with Scanmail I do MAPI, AVAPI and message body scanning. We never noticed a slowdown in anything, but I know some people on the list have said they have with the message body scanning.
