Must be My Documents then. When I do a save as for an open file, My
Documents is the default save location (on my server).

Steve,

I have found that the easiest way to identify the folder name and path on
your system is to open a message with an attachment then open the
attachment and from that application select Save As. from the File menu.
The default save directory is the Outlook temp directory so you can retrieve
the path and folder name from there.

Thanks,

   Peter Dahl.

Yes, I have seen it in 2007 as well. Sometimes it is kind of weird. I'll sit
and wait for a while and the graphics will eventually fill in, sometimes, if
I scroll the message and then scroll back, the graphics magically appear.
This has happened to me on a number of machines on a number of networks and
with different exchange servers. This pretty much rules out a network or
machine anomaly. So far it has not really bothered me enough to really
search for a fix (I'm really a plain text kind of guy), but since it was
brought up, I thought I would follow through on the suggestions given.

As for the OLK??? (hidden) directories, I have yet to find one in a 2007
install.

Interesting. and we haven't rolled 2007 out to more than about 10 machines
here, so I have only see this on Outlook 2003. As Kathleen mentioned, the
folder name is not always the same, but it should start with OLK. Have you
seen this problem on 2007, or were you just looking for the files?

No such directory on this machine with OLK2007. Temporary Internet Files ,
otherwise known as the cache, is set at 12 MB rather than the outrageously
large size that MS thinks it should be.

Under that users's logon, open up c:\documents and settings\username\local
settings\temporary internet files. There is probably a subfolder like
"olk66" and a bunch of junk inside that folder. For some reason, when files
pile up here, Outlook likes to stop showing embedded jpgs (not sure about
other pic types).

Easiest fix I've used is to have them clear their Temporary Internet files
using IE, but I've also been able to just empty out this folder's contents.

I have a user that is unable to see pictures with messages formatted in
HTML. I've already...

1. Opened Outlook.

2. Click TOOLS.

3. Selected OPTIONS.

4. Clicked SECURITY.

5. Clicked CHANGE AUTOMATIC DOWNLOAD SETTINGS.

6. Unchecked everything.

7. Clicked OK twice.

It didn't help. Odd.
