I would rather see vim removed and busybox vi made available. I expect our target userbase to have a minimal experience with vi. That way, we provide a POSIX editor, but no more. Note that installing a useable vim or emacs does not necessitate to edit paludis config files, we could reflect that in the install guide by adding a 'install your editor of choice' step before setting options. That would be my preferred solution, however I do not have strong feeling against having to remove both vim and emacs during install (I use Kakoune).
