Excuse my spam/promotion, but when you read the story below I hope you will
agree that the service I received is worth a mention...
Thanks to the Icelandic Volcano incident my two week holiday travelling across
parts of Western Europe and attending ANZAC day in France (an important day of
remembrance for us Aussies) was looking all but ruined if it was not for the
services of a Ukrainian travel agency called Arktur (www.arktur.ua).
I could not get any train tickets out from Moscow to Europe, they were all
booked, so I thought I would try from Kiev. Unfortunately it is very hard to
book tickets out of Kiev by train unless you are physically there. Natalia
Soboleva, GM of Arktur sent someone down to the station to try to purchase some
for me but was unsuccessful. She was of the opinion though that there was a
good chance we could still get tickets if we were actually there ourselves.
My problem with that is my total lack of language skills would make that very
difficult indeed!
Natalia very kindly offered to meet us at the station when our overnight train
from Moscow arrived, take us to the ticket booth and help us purchase the
tickets from Kiev to Berlin, and that is exactly what she did!
And how much did all this cost me? All the questions about how to book a
ticket, sending someone to the station to try to get some, and finally actually
meeting us at the station and purchasing the tickets with us?
Didn't cost me a thing.
Needless to say I will be using Arktur for my next trip to Ukraine. Check them
