Well, it seems that I've lost my inittab. I can boot into single user
mode, but as a read-only fs (so it tells me), I can't rename the
inittab.rpmsave or even create a new inittab. Is there a way to direct it
to the inittab.rpmsaved during bootup? Or am I a candidate for a re-install?
Thanks,
Pat Grismore
P.S.
A big thanks to Bernhard and the other Mandrake developers who are present
on this list. It's great that you all are so helpful and accessible!

Very probably doesn't have anything to do with initscripts 24 - works here
without problems.

Unless you've disabled it for security purposes, you can do something like
linux init=/bin/sh
in LILO.
