OK, it was obvious once I know where to look :-)  This is really a good
idea since it allows for some centralized control of the desktop.

This is the way I normally set things up.  Now that see what the KDE
authors are trying to accomplish (or is this a Mandrake thing?)  I
think it is a very good idea.  Certain devices probably should be
exclusively "owned" by the user logged in at the console.  The problem
appears to be that the permissions are not being reset when I log out
of KDE.
