Hello,
I'm new on expert mailing-list, this is my first answer, hope it will help
you.
After the 'make bzImage', you have to run linuxconf to add the new kernel
which is in a sub-directory boot... of your kernel sources.
rename the old 'linux' (default name) to linux229 (for example). It will
enable you to use it again if your new kernel doesn't work !
add a new one named linux, give it the path to your bzImage, the boot
partition.
Don't forget to [X] the option to copy the bzImage to /boot
Set it as default kernel.
Exit linuxconf
run LILO to sync your config
reboot
You should have now the kernel 2.2.11
Bye
