Vmware is not an x server.

vmware is a program that provides a virtual cpu under an operating
system. This lets you run another operating system inside that program.

With vmware on Windows NT, for example, you can run linux, windows 2000,
windows 95 and windows 98 simultaneously, if you so desire.

If you run vmware under windows NT and run linux in the virtual cpu it
gives you, then linux's X server can be used to provide a _very_ good x
server for NT. As a bonus, you also get the use of a real operating system
:). [An I used to be a micro$oft bigot! Their arrogance changed my
mind!]

Windows NT under vmware under Linux also works, but not as well. NT
doesn't handle the virtual cpu as well as linux does. Or maybe vmware
handles linux better than it does NT. I can't tell. I just know some
programs don't work well under NT under vmware, but I've had _very_ few
problems running vmware under NT running linux.

I've not had any problems running on any system, in terms of video card
destruction.
