Being a K6 II user, i realize that some socket 7 mbs do not recognize
more than 64M of ram. Check it if your box is using all the 128M of ram.
Actually i was using an ASUS P5A-B mb with a K6/2/266 128M ram, there
was no problem. Then i bought a new system of a 450 CPU with MSI
mb. The only difference between the mbs is MSI has 2 more slots (1 PCI and
1 ISA) and ASUS uses ALi1542 while MSI uses ALi1541 chip.
I had 3 awfull nights with hdparm and syslogs till i realise the ram was not
detected fully :-(
making a '#top' may save you from a lot of trouble.
