Wednesday night, sometime between Midnight and 7 AM Thursday morning my Telnet
Server appears to have quit working. I only have two user accounts on the
Linux-Mandrake box set up, one for me, and one for my son who connects from
out of state. Now when we connect via the Internet all we get is the message
"Connection to host lost."
What changed? Got me... Sometime during the time frame mentioned above
uswest.net changed my Dynamic IP Address. This required me to remap the
ports - a task I have done several times over the past two months. No big
deal -- except that the router (Cisco 675 at 216.161.136.168) maps port 23 to
the Linux box (10.0.0.5) but doesn't work. Since the ftp and http servers
work I can only presume that there is a problem with the Telnet Server on the
Linux box.
I would also like to know how to check to see if the Telnet Server is actually
running. Sorry, I'm still a newbie in many areas. :-)
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks
