[expert] Sound on IBM ThinkPad

Hello all;

I have Mandrake 6.1 running on a IBM ThinkPad 380ED. I have configured
the sound card (a CrystalClear card which is claimed to be Sound Blaster
Pro compatible). When I go to the KDE system sound panel some of the
.wav files play fine (i.e. talk.wav) but others sound like electric
interference noise (i.e. KDE_Startup.wav)

Has anybody experienced similar things? Is there anybody on this list
who successfully configured the sound card on a ThinkPad 380ED?
