It is not lot's of help, BUT: that works !!!
I had (at home) a linux box and a HP DeskJet 690C attached...
Both Linux and the Windoze boxes could print.
Stupid question maybe: you did connect the printer to a 'network port' rather
than to the LPT1 port???
After upgrading from RedHat 5.2 to Mandrake 6.0 it stopped working. But I
removed samba and did a new rpm (latest version from the net) and guess what
: up and running again....
