Larry,

I am running ghostscript 5.10
When I have the problem, there are files "status" and "lock" in the
/var/spool/lpd/lp0 directory (they don't go away). When I run printqueue
the message which appears in the bottom box goes something like this:
"Printer is down. Warning: no daemon present."

I am using the package for the Epson Stylus Color 740 which can be found
at: <http://lcewww.et.tudelft.nl/~haver/linux/epson.html>
These files have worked well before.

My printtool is the version that came with L-M 6.1. My lpr is the updated
one, lpr-0.43-1mdk. I have also tried the original lpr-0.38.

I only have ONE printer resolution setup right now, so my printcap file is
only for lp, which works.

Here is my printcap:

You didn't say, but are you experiencing the same difficulties?
