Great many thanks to all who responded to my question.
Meanwhile I set my hostname into sendmail.cf according to
Alex Kirillov's advice:

# my official domain name
# ... define this only if sendmail cannot automatically determine your domain
Djvaisburd.Foo.COM

and it seems to work with me.
