/usr/doc/samba-2.x.y/docs has Plain password registry for 95, 98, NT and 2000.
But here is my file which I had to earn by trial and error because resources were not
available to me when the newer Windows stopped talking to my Infomagic WorkGroup Server
(When I was still using WGS about a year ago. [and it sems like ancient history])
Click Start; select Run Program; type in c:\windows\regedit.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE click the +
System click the +
CurrentControlSet click the +
Services click the +
VxD click the +
VNETSUP click the folder
Select Edit->New->DWORD Value
Type
EnablePlainTextPassword
Hit <Enter>
Now double-click the word in the right screen thet you just typed. Type 1 in value
data
and click "OK"
Exit the registry editor and reboot
WIn98 will now send out plain text passwords
I don't have any Windows facilities handy but I think I recall correctly. Windows does
make some sort of strange sense, at least viewed as a consistent black box. (No, I
never
answered the ad on the matchbook cover to become a Microsoft Certified anything)
