Ahh finaly log entrys from someone with the problem (anyone confirm they
have the same?)

This is pretty straight forward it can't grab the configured socket. Last
time i saw this someone left out unix sockets when they built thier
kernel. 

If these are upgrades not fresh installs you should also check the
/etc/X11/fs/ direcory for a "stale" config file, same goes for the startup
script /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs.

Also check the permissions on /tmp/.font-unix/fs-1

You can still hard code your fontpath in the XF86Config, it just doesn't
support true type fonts..
