Your reading the wrong directions (or you've got them upside down). You've
forgotten to update lilo or your boot disk. the linus kernel is only for
debug (only installed if manualy selected, or blindly what ever the case
maybe) do a 'rpm -qa|grep kernel' odds are you installed them all already
and just need to point the /boot/vmlinuz at the right kernel and update
lilo.
