Hurra, hurra hurra!!!!

problem is nearly solved!

I tried another Symbios pci scsi controller 815 and had the same trouble as
before, so Idid guess it may be configuration or driver problem from mandrake
7.0. My next try was to download mandrake 7.02 and wait what happens! The same
trouble came on and big frustration. Then I tried a Adaptec 2940U2W out of the
box did no changes at all to settings inside the controller bios and what
surprise it did work right from the beginning. The next try was to build the
symbios 895 again into my computer and to change settings to:

Plextor cdrom and yamaha writer set 8bit bus and speed of 10mb and with a
little bit of luck intstallation went smooth nearly; on doing some work I just
had a couple of resets on the scsi-bus but no serious problems any more.

Hope this solution could help you Wolfgang and some others.
