Perhaps I'm reading you wrong.  If so, ignore this post.  What
Alan has described here is basically using his  masquerading (gateway)
system tp dial out.  If your masquerading system is the one to dial
out, that should work, but if you are using any of the other machines
to dial out, don't forget that the other systems are using the masq
server as gateway - you have to change the gateway.

You should be using the masq server as the machine dialing out, because
that's where you have your firewall set up.  (you have your firewall
set up, don't you ?)
