Sorry about that.
The rewind device rewinds the tape after each read or write. It lets you,
say, write an archive, then verify it with no intervening rewind command
and no following rewind command.
To do the rewinds yourself, use the no rewind device.
rewind: /dev/stx
no rewind: /dev/nstx
Note the n in the no rewind device name.
