1) Follow the docs.

2) Use Testparms... A good tool to test /etc/smb.conf's consistency.

3) Access samba locally after restarting it with the changes...

I.E.

[root@router ~]# smbclient -L router -U opjose
added interface ip=10.0.0.1 bcast=10.255.255.255 nmask=255.0.0.0
added interface ip=127.0.0.1 bcast=127.0.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0

Then check the /var/log/samba directory for information dumps of what is
wrong.
(note that it's a good idea to explicitly turn on connection by connect
logging until you have everything set up!)
