Yes it works, but only because WIN2K still supports SMB's authentication.
The "Microsoft Manifesto April 2000" indicates that Microshaft will even
dump this in favor of a proprietized version of Kerberos. What a joke. In
one move they shaft everyone NOT using their OS's...
